Girls Weekend!!!

I sent out an e-mail this morning to everyone in my address book...but for those of you who I don't have current e-mails for I'm posting the information here as well. Please pass this information on to everyone. If you are reading this blog and now live or ever did live in Port Orchard please consider yourself invited. (: I don't want to leave anyone out- it's going to be a blast!

Hello Ladies,

We are tentatively planning a Girls running/ scrap booking / general conference weekend in Leavenworth for the weekend of October 3-5th. We would leave on Friday afternoon and return Sunday evening. Leavenworth is having its Oktoberfest activities and they’ll be holding their annual half marathon and marathon on Saturday. Some of us are already signed up to participate in that but for those of you who aren’t you can just go shopping in Leavenworth while the rest of us are running. (:

This weekend will be full of great food (we’ll come up with food assignments when we have a list of whose coming), great conversation and as always a much needed break from the day-to-day. The cost will be $25 per person plus the cost of gas. We had one of these a few years ago and it was SO wonderful! I got to watch all 4 sessions of conference and enjoy some time away from the house and kids. This is also one of those opportunities for your husband to have some fun “Dad time” with the kids (and appreciate a little more what we go through every day). It will be good for him and your marriage, Trust me!!!

Please Reply with a “Yes” or a “Maybe” if you would like to come so that we can start making tentative lists.

P.S. I am not in the Sinclair View ward anymore so if I am leaving out anyone who you think would like to come please forward to them. Those of you out-of-towners and out of staters are welcome to make the trek too. The house has room for 15 guests but can sleep more if someone wants to sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor. Whoever replies with a “Yes” first gets their name on the list. Don’t let it fill up without you!

IT MADE ME SMILE...

LAUREN Our dog discovered a rabbit nest this week and (according to Lauren) ate 4 baby bunnies. ): A little while later she was playing with Nelly in the front yard when we heard her say: "Yuck, Nelly...you have bunny breath!"

JOSEPH When I asked Joseph this morning if he would like a piece of fudge in his lunch he said: "I probably better not Mom. I'm trying to get all greens in class (behavior chart) and sugar makes me hyper...I'm afraid I might do something crazy."

JACOB's response to my comment that we can't force Daddy to eat his eggs for breakfast: "YOU could force him.....You're his wife!"

BEN was waiting for me to put on a new DVD that I promised the boys they would like. They were suspicious of the cover (it had a man and a woman on the front.) "Okay Mom, we'll try it but if they kiss we are OUT of here!"

JACOB's review after watching the Wizard of Oz for the first time: "Too much singing and dancing around...I wish they'd just go where they're supposed to go already and quit singing and dancing about it."

LAUREN was supposed to be cleaning her room but came downstairs to ask me if I would help her. I told her that I thought she could do it on her own. She started crying and said in an exasperated way, "But Mommy, Jesus wants us to help people so you HAVE to help me."

JOSEPH was sitting at the bar in the kitchen while I was wiping off the counters. When I finished I threw the wet dishcloth across the room to land in the sink. While it was mid air he yelled out, "Fore!"

BEN was watching the movie SECRETARIAT about a horse race. During one of the opening scenes the heroine in the film was verbally putting her husband and brother in their place. Ben was watching this with great interest and finally blurted aloud, "She's like the grownup of the world!"

LAUREN and I were walking up the hill to visit our neighbor. Along the way we decided to pick some wild flowers and bring her a bouquet. After we had some of each color she excitedly ran to a cluster of old Dandelions that had gone to seed. "Here Mama, let's pick her a wush flower!" I love her little names for things. (Lauren pronounces "wish" "wush". It's so cute.)

BEN and the boys were having ice-cream one night. After Aaron served them up he left some out for himself and then left the room for a few minutes. When he returned over half of his portion had been eaten. He questioned the boys and Ben, hanging his head said, "I did it......" When Aaron asked him why he said, " It's so good Dad I just couldn't stop."

BEN and I were walking from the parking lot toward the Goodwill store. All of a sudden he pointed to the DONATIONS sign and excitedly yelled, "DONUTS!!!" He was a little disappointed when realized his error.

LAUREN came downstairs this morning rubbing her eyes and asking me to look at her back. I didn't see anything (I thought I was looking for a bug bite or a scratch). I told her there was nothing there. She hung her head and shoulders and responded, "Well I did have wings on my back but now they're gone." Apparently she had dreamed that she was a fairy. I love little girls.

BEN came into the office this morning (the first full day of summer vacation) dressed for school with his backpack on and his snack packed. "I'm ready for first grade Mom." (I had to explain to him that he wouldn't be going to first grade until AFTER summer vacation.) 6-19-10

LAUREN was helping to crack eggs for breakfast this morning. She got mad at Ben for something and in a fit of rage chucked an egg right at him. I tried my hardest not to laugh. 4-21-10
